Ingredients

600gchicken thigh
or breast, cut into bite-size pieces
1 tspsalt
½ tsppepper
1 tspgarlic powder
optional
½ cupcornflour
or potato starch for extra crispiness
Oil
for frying, can be shallow-fried
3 Tbspgochujang
Korean red chilli paste, available at Countdown / New World
3 Tbsphoney
or brown sugar
2 Tbspsoy sauce
1 Tbsprice vinegar
or white vinegar
2 Tbspketchup
adds sweetness + colour
2 clovesgarlic
finely chopped
1 tspginger
grated, optional
1 Tbspwater
Instructions
Prep The Chicken
Step 1
Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Step 2
Toss with cornflour until every piece is coated.
Step 3
Set aside for 5 minutes to let the coating stick.
Cook The Chicken

Heat 1–2 cm of oil in a pan
Step 5
Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 mins until golden & crispy
Step 6
Drain on paper towel
Make The Sauce

In a frying pan or saucepan:

Add gochujang, honey/sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, garlic, and ginger.

Heat on low, stirring until it bubbles slightly.
Step 10
Add 1–2 tbsp water if it gets too thick.

Turn off heat and add sesame oil if using.
Coat The Chicken

Add crispy chicken into the pan

Toss until every piece is shiny and fully coated
