1 headgreen cabbage
cut into 8-10 wedges, core intact
1yellow onion
large, sliced
4 clovesgarlic
smashed
4 tablespoonsolive oil
2 tablespoonsbutter
cut into pieces
2 cupsbeef broth
meat drippings
or a combination of to equal this amount

1 tablespoonDijon mustard
½ tablespooncaraway seeds

1 tablespoonsbrown sugar

Instructions
Step 1
1. Lightly grease or spray the crock pot.
Step 2
2. Place the cabbage wedges in the bottom of the crock pot, cut-side down.
Step 3
3. Scatter the sliced onion and smashed garlic over and between the cabbage wedges.
Step 4
4. In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the beef broth, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and olive oil.
Step 5
5. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the cabbage and onions.
Step 6
6. Sprinkle with garlic salt and black pepper. Add caraway seeds if using.
Step 7
7. Dot the butter pieces over the top.

8. Cover and cook:

• LOW: 7–8 hours (best texture)

• HIGH: 4–5 hours
Step 11
9. Do not stir during cooking. When finished, taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

10. Serve warm, spooning some of the flavorful broth over the cabbage.
