Instructions

Step 1
Cut just under half of the block of butter and put in freezer
Step 2
Once frozen, add the flour to a large bowl and grate the frozen butter into the bowl
Step 3
Add the milk and a sprinkle of salt. If using, add some grated cheddar
Step 4
Mix until mostly mixed together. Tip out onto a floured surface and pat down flat
Step 5
Fold over and pat down flat again. Repeat until mixture has been folded 5-6 times
Step 6
Roll out and use cutters to cut out biscuits, making sure to cut straight down and not twist
Step 7
Add to a lined baking dish and turn oven on to 200 c
Step 8
Brush biscuits with melted butter and if using add some grated cheddar on top. When oven is heated bake for 20 mins and brush with melted butter when finished
