Ingredients

1 lblean ground beef
or ground turkey
0.5onion
small, finely diced
0.5green bell pepper
finely diced, optional but good
2 clovesgarlic
minced
¾ cupketchup
1 tablespoontomato paste
optional but adds richness
1 tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
1 tablespoonbrown sugar
adjust to taste
1 teaspoonyellow mustard
½ teaspoonchili powder
½ teaspoonsmoked paprika
¼ teaspoonsalt
to taste
¼ teaspoonblack pepper
2 tablespoonswater
to thin if needed
Instructions
Step 1
Brown the meat
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess grease if needed
Step 2
Add veggies
Stir in onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened
Step 3
Add sauce ingredients
Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, brown sugar, mustard, and spices.
Step 4
Simmer
Reduce heat to low and simmer 8–10 minutes until thick and saucy.
Add a splash of water if it gets too thick.
