Instructions

Step 1
Soak: Soak the red lentils in water for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to soften. Drain well.
Step 2
Blend: In a high-speed blender, combine the soaked lentils with the 30-50ml of water, olive oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and herbs. Blend until completely smooth, aiming for a thick paste consistency.
Step 3
Pipe: Transfer the mixture into a piping bag or a sturdy freezer bag with the corner cut off.
Step 4
Prepare & Bake: Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pipe the batter into spiral shapes, leaving space between them.
Step 5
Crisp: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the spirals are golden brown and crispy.
Step 6
Cool: Let them cool on the tray, as they will get crispier while cooling.
Step 7
Notes: Texture: If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time until it's easy to pipe. If too thin, the spirals won't hold their shape. Air Fryer: These can be air-fried at 180°C for roughly 10-15 minutes. Add-ins: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the spirals before baking for extra crunch.
