Instructions
Step 1
Made it with Our Finest Angus Meatballs and increased all ingredients to equal 2 pounds of steak. The canned mushrooms were very wet so took really long to brown. I cooked them for 5 minutes as instructed. Then added the flour. After 2 minutes, I increased the heat from 4 to 5. I kept increasing the heat by 1 every 2 minutes until I got to 9. They looked like they might be browning at 8 but I wasn't sure. They started browning at 9 after a few minutes?, I guess. The mushroom juice diluted the beef broth too much. Next time use 1 can mushroom juice which is 1/2 cup and use 3/4 cup beef broth. But this can be doubled because it wasn't saucy. Also added several dashes of soy sauce to add salt. Probably won't need to do that with more beef broth to mushroom liquid.
Step 2
Fill a large pot with water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil.
Step 3
Drain the mushrooms; save the liquid.
Step 4
Add beef broth to that liquid until you have 2 cups total.
Step 5
When water is boiling, add noodles.
Step 6
Cook until tender (6–8 mins), drain, and toss with 1/4 cup butter and a shake of Lawry's. Cover and set aside.
Step 7
Set oven to Warm (170°F) and put a plate inside.
Step 8
Heat oil in the skillet over high heat.
Step 9
Pat steaks dry.
Step 10
Dust both sides with Lawry’s and a shake of black pepper.
Step 11
Fry steaks for 2 minutes per side.
Step 12
Move steaks to the warm plate in the oven and cover with foil.
Step 13
In the same skillet, melt 3 tbsp butter over medium-low heat.
Step 14
Add drained mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes until coated and flavorful.
Step 15
Stir in 3 tbsp flour.
Step 16
Cook and stir for 2 minutes until the paste is golden brown.
Step 17
Slowly whisk in the 2-cup broth mixture and Worcestershire sauce.
Step 18
Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, stirring often, until rich and thick.
Step 19
Take steaks out of the oven. Pour any juices from the plate into the gravy.
Step 20
Place steaks back into the gravy for 30 seconds to get them piping hot.
Step 21
Place a heap of buttered noodles on each plate, top with a steak, and smother with gravy.
