Instructions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar, salt and garlic powder. Stir well. Add olive oil and warm water. Stir until well combined.
Step 2
Gradually add another 1 cup flour. Add any additional flour as needed, stirring until the dough forms an elastic ball and starts pulling away from the sides. It should be tacky but still manageable with hands.
Step 3
Let dough rise in oiled bowl for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Form into a log 15 inches long and cut into 9 even pieces. Form rope 8 inches long and tie in a knot. Place on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
Step 5
Let rest on top of warm oven for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Bake at 400°F for 13 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 9 knots.
Step 7
Garlic Butter: Combine and heat until butter is melted and garlic is fragrant. Generously brush mixture over each freshly baked knot, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
