Instructions

Step 1
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until completely smooth and spreadable. Gently fold in your sliced strawberries or berries or save for garnish.
Step 2
Lay your bread slices out in pairs. Spread a generous, even layer of the cream cheese filling or Nutella spread on one side of a slice, leaving a ¼-inch border around the edges. Top it with the second slice of bread and press the edges gently together to seal the filling inside
Step 3
Alternative "Pocket" Method: If you have exceptionally thick 1.5-inch brioche slices, you can use a paring knife to slice a deep pocket into the top or bottom edge of the bread and pipe or spoon the filling straight into the center.
Step 4
In a wide, shallow bowl or pie dish, thoroughly whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and the remaining vanilla extract until the eggs are completely broken down and integrated.
Step 5
Heat the pan: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.Remove the French toast from the skillet and slice diagonally. Dust generously with powdered sugar and top with fresh maple syrup, whipped cream, or extra berries.
Step 6
Dip your assembled sandwich into the egg custard. Let it soak for about 5–10 seconds per side so the bread absorbs the liquid without falling apart. Let any excess drip off
Step 7
Cook: Place the sandwich in the hot skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the bottom is deeply golden brown. Flip carefully and cook the other side for another 3 minutes.
