Momma's Cornbread

For a sweeter cornbread add 3-4 Tbsp sugar to dry ingredients and drizzle honey over the top before cooking. For cornbread with a kick add some diced jalapenos and cheddar cheese to the batter before cooking.

Instructions

Step 1
Put the oil in a cast iron or glass dish and put into the oven while it is being preheated to 400°.

Mix dry ingredients thoroughly then add the milk, stir until the mixture is smooth.

Add the hot oil from the pan, mix, then pour the batter into the hot pan.

Cook for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
