Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl soak beans overnight, covering with at least 3 inches of water. Drain and rinse.
Step 2
Place beans and stock in a large saucepan and cook until tender about 2 hours.
Step 3
Lightly coat a saucepan pan with a small amount of canola oil. Saute unions until translucent. Add beans, tomatoes, molasses, salt and tomato juice to onions. Cook over low to medium heat until half of the liquid is absorbed
Step 4
Stir in tomato paste, brown sugar and pepper, and continue cooking until mixture has thickened.
