Step 1
Bring water to a boil over high heat. Add salt and grits to boiling water. Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes; stirring occasionally. (Add water if too thick or more grits if too thin.) Add butter and stir until melted. Serve.
