Step 1
In a pan, add enough oil to deep fry the okra. Add chopped okra, and deep fry till it turns golden brown. Keep aside.

In a blender, add coconut, green chillies and little water, and grind to a fine paste. Pour into a bowl.

Add the fried okra to the coconut paste.
For seasoning
Step 4
In a pan, add oil, black mustard seeds and hing. After seeds crackle, switch off the flame, and add dried red chilli, curry leaves.

Pour the seasoning into the bowl with the coconut paste and fried okra. Add salt, as per taste.
Step 6
Just before serving, add curd. Avoid adding curd too much in advance to preserve the consistency.
Step 7
Mix well, and vendakkai kichadi is ready to serve!
Step 8
Serve as a side dish with rice and any lentil curry.
