Instructions
Step 1
In a big saucepan, fry onions and garlic with any spices you want til brown
Step 2
Add 3 cans of beans with liquidy contents. Top up with water swilled around one of the empty cans
Step 3
Simmer (with bubbly bits) for ~1.5/2 hours. Make sure you keep stirring as it will start to stick to the bottom of the pan
Step 4
Around 1.5hrs, add any umami flavours you like: soy sauce, miso paste, red wine, balsamic vinegar
Step 5
It'll be finished when you taste a bean and it's creamy and soft
