Instructions

Step 1
Heat vegetable oil in your camp oven or pan, then add the beef (in batches if needed – don’t crowd the pot) and brown on both sides. Remove the beef and set aside.
Step 2
Add the onions, carrots and garlic and sauté until the onion has softened.
Step 3
Add the mushroom soup, beef stock, diced tomato, Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste, and stir to combine, making sure you scrape up all the goodness from the bottom of the pot.
Step 4
Taste and season with salt and pepper if required

Return the browned beef and mix well.
Step 6
Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer, cover and cook for about 1 hour or until the meat is tender and falls apart. The length of cooking time will depend on the cut you have used.
Step 7
Check the sauce during cooking. If it becomes too thick, add a little water or beef stock. If too runny thicken with a little flour paste.
