300gBrisket
or beef of Choice
60mlLight Soy Sauce
40mlKecap Manis
sweet soy sauce
1chilli
finely chopped
3 tspgarlic
chopped
4 tspGinger
Chopped
1White Onion
Large, cut into Rings
1white onion
medium, finely chopped
2 tspwhite wine vinegar
1 tsplemon juice
1 tspsalt
2 Tbspvegetable oil
150mlwater
hot
1 tspcornflour
2 tspwater
cold
Instructions
Step 1
Slice up the beef into thin strips and add to a bowl.
Step 2
Into the bowl add in the soy sauce, Kecap manis, 1 tsp of Garlic, 2tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp Chilli, 2 tbsp chopped onions, lemon juice, salt and pepper and the white wine vinegar.
Step 3
Mix well, cover and set aside for 15/30 minutes.
Step 4
Add 1 tbsp Vegetable oil into a large skillet or frying pan, add in the onion rings and gently cook until the onions are soft and tender.
Step 5
Remove the onion from the pan and into a bowl.
Step 6
Add another tbsp of oil to the same pan, then add in the garlic, ginger, chilli and the remaining chopped onions and cook until the onions are translucent.
Step 7
Add in the beef strips without adding the marinade and cook the beef until browned then add in the the marinade stir and cover the pan and cook on a gentle heat. Keep checking the pan ensuring that the pan doesn’t dry out.
Step 8
After 10 minutes add in the hot water stir and cover and allow to cook down for 15-20 minutes.
Step 9
Mix 1 tsp of cornflour with 2 tsp of water and pour into the pan to thicken the sauce.
Step 10
Once the sauce thickens add in the cooked onion rings, stir well and turn off the heat.
Step 11
Serve with rice, and garnish with finely sliced spring onions. Lick you’re lips and enjoy
