Baked mac and cheese is a creamy and comforting pasta recipe, and is perfect for a holiday family dinner. Its crispy top covers a soft, creamy bottom, which is soooo delicious! Though it takes time to make, I still love it!

Step 1

Pre-heat the oven to 350F

Step 2

Pour 1 bag of pasta into the rice cooker, and select the "Quick Rice" function. When it finishes, set aside to let it cool down

Step 3

Melt 1/2 cup butter in a pan, add 1/2 cup flour, 1tbs mustard powder, and 1 tsp paprika, and whisk together until fully combined, cook for an additional 15 seconds





Step 4

Add the milk slowly while whisking to keep the mixture well combined

Step 5
Add in the salt and pepper and cook for an additional 5 minutes


Step 6

Turn off the heat. Remove 1 cup of the milk mixture and let cool for a 3-5 minutes in the refrigerator in a larger glass measuring cup or bowl.

Step 7

Add the egg to the cooled milk and whisk it well until fully combined

Step 8

Turn the heat on the pot back on to medium-low. Slowly pour the egg and milk mixture into the rest of the milk while whisking very well
Step 9

Add in the mozzarella and 1 cup of the sharp cheddar and whisk until combined


Step 10

Add the cooled pasta back into the pot and toss with the cheese sauce

Step 11

Pour into a 9×13 baking dish and top with the remaining 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese


Step 12

Bake for 30 minutes, uncovered
