Takoyaki

How to make Takoyaki. These are Japanese snacks/appetizers made with a savory batter and typically have octopus as the filling with some green onions. I used to pick these up at a food court at an Asian market and since it’s not close by, I decided to make some at home. It’s fairly easy to make, and I was finally able to use my aebelskiver pan I ordered from Amazon last year!

Instructions

Step 1
In a bowl, combine flour, eggs, water, dashi powder and mix until smooth. Using a Takoyaki or aebelskiver pan, add a little oil and octopus. Pour in batter and add green onions. Cook for about 2 minutes and use skewers to flip the batter halfway, and add more batter and turn slowly to form balls. I actually prefer to fill half way with the batter and just flip. Not only was this method easier but it didn’t turn out so doughy. Cook until golden brown. Drizzle on the Takoyaki sauce, Mayo, Bonito flakes, green onions and seaweed slices. Serve immediately for best taste!
