Instructions
Za’atar Yogurt
Step 1
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Step 2
Slice the halloumi into sticks and pat dry on all sides. I was able to get 12 sticks out of my block.
Step 3
In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, cornstarch and seasonings. Add the halloumi and toss to coat.
Step 4
Pour about a 1/2 inch of oil into a shallow, heavy bottomed skillet and place over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer, you can test by sticking the handle of a wooden spoon into the oil. Once bubbles form around it, it’s ready.
Step 5
Shake off any excess flour then carefully place half of the halloumi in the oil. Fry until golden brown on the bottom, then flip and fry on the other side, about 3-4 minutes total. Remove the fries and place on a paper towel lined plate to drain. Repeat with remaining halloumi.
Step 6
Add to a plate and top with za’atar yogurt and any other additional toppings you’d like.
