Kali daal is black gram lentils. This recipe is quite tangy and tastes amazing with yoghurt or raita. You can have it with naan, roti or rice.

Instructions
Step 1
Add the black lentils, onion, tomato, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and 500 ml of water in a pot. On medium heat, let it cook for 30 minutes.
Step 2
After 30 minutes, add green chillies, coriander, chaat masala, garam masala, and the remaining water. Cook for further 5 minutes,
Step 3
In a separate pan, add oil, garlic paste, and cumin seeds and fry for a minute on a medium heat.
Step 4
Pour it over the black lentils in the pot and cover with a lid and cook for 2 minutes. Stir it in.
Step 5
Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon juice.
