1 TbspMolasses

Instructions
Step 1
Cake Batter
Step 2
In a bowl add the chopped dates, boiling water, baking soda, and set it aside.
Step 3
In another large bowl add brown sugar, butter, mix it until it’s nicely combined. Add one egg at a time then mix, add baking powder, cinnamon, vanilla extract, yogurt, molasses, and mix well. Go back to the bowl with dates, use a potato masher to mash the dates as much as you can to get a thick consistency, then add them to your cake batter, and mixwell. Then Add the flour and give the batter a final mix. In a greased pan add the batter and bake it at 356F for 30-40mins (if you bake it in a cupcake pans, it takes about 25 mins)
Step 4
Dark Salted caramel
Step 5
In a saucepan, add your sugar, butter, molasses, then slowly bring it to a boil and cramaize it until the sugar is melted. Add the heavy cream, mix well, then add vanilla extract, salt. If you want a thicker consistency keep stirring on a low flame but remember the caramel will get thicker as it cools down, so take it down after 1 mins.
Step 6
Check your cake by poking it with a toothpick, if it comes out clean your cake is done. Let it cool, then add your caramel on top (I like to add my caramel when I eat a slice). Have it with some vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
Step 7
In a bowl add the chopped dates, boiling water, baking soda, and set it aside.
