Toor Dal, also known as pigeon pea, is another simple yet delicious dish that can be had with rice or chapati.
*Cumin-fenugreek powder is made by slightly roasting cumin and fenugreek seeds, 1:1, and then grinding them together. Cool slightly before grinding together.

Step 1
In a pressure cooker, put in onion, dal, garlic cloves, tomato, cumin-fenugreek powder, salt and chilli powder with water.
Step 2
Cook for 5-6 whistles.
Step 3
Once cooled, add the tamarind paste and coriander leaves and grind the mixture.
Step 4
In a small pan, put oil and when hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin seeds and a diced onion.
Step 5
Add it to the dal. Cook and serve.
