Step 1
Combined steak, barley, and water in large saucepan and bring to a boil. With slotted spoon, skim off and discard any foam. Add onion, carrots, celery, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 30 minutes.
Step 2
Stir beans and mushrooms into soup; cook, covered until meat is tender, about 15 minutes longer.
