1 ½ cShortening
melted & cooled, do not use butter
2 csugar
½ cmolasses
2eggs
4 cFlour
4 tspbaking soda
1 tspground cloves
1 tsppowdered ginger
2 tspcinnamon
1 tspsalt
⅓ csugar

Instructions
Step 1
To the melted, cooled shortening add: sugar, molasses, & eggs. Beat well.
Step 2
In separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients.
Step 3
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing with a spoon.
Step 4
Chill for at least an hour
Step 5
Preheat oven to 375
Step 6
Make tablespoon sized balls from dough. Roll in sugar and place on undressed cookie sheet about 2” apart
Step 7
Bake 8-10 minutes. You want them flatten but still soft. Let cool 1-2 minutes before removing from tray.
