The night before
Step 1
Mix together the sourdough start, flour, water, and sugar. Blend together with a whisk until smooth. Cover and set out to ferment overnight at room temperature.
The next day

Combine the soda with a tablespoon of water and mix well and set aside.
Step 3
In the meantime heat up a frying pan or griddle so it is ready to start frying pancakes as soon as you have the batter mixed.
Step 4
Add the molasses, egg, salt, and vegetable oil to the sour dough mixture you made the night before and mix well. Add the soda and water mixture last of all and mix well.
Step 5
Using a 1/4 cup to measure the batter fry the pancakes as soon after the batter is mixed while the soda is active.
Step 6
The final step is to smother the pancakes in butter and your favorite syrup, and get fat and happy.
