CRUST

¾ cupshortening

2 cupsall-purpose flour

1 tablespoonsugar

1 teaspoonsalt

1egg yolk

¼ cupmilk
cold

2 packetscrystallized lemon drink mix
FILLING

5 cupsapples
thinly sliced

4 packetscrystallized lemon drink mix

2 tablespoonsall-purpose flour

⅔ cupsugar

½ teaspooncinnamon

¼ teaspoonnutmeg

¼ teaspoonallspice

2 tablespoonsunsalted butter
TOPPING
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2
Crust: in a small bowl, cut shortening into flour, sugar and salt until the mixture looks like cornmeal or small peas.
Step 3
In another bowl, beat egg yolk slightly and combine with milk and True Lemon.
Step 4
Add to flour mixture and mix by hand until it forms a ball.
Step 5
Divide dough in half and store one crust in refrigerator in plastic wrap for later or make 2 pies.
Step 6
Roll out dough on a well-floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie plate.
Step 7
Filling: in a large bowl, combine apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and True Lemon. Pour into prepared pie shell and dot with butter.
Step 8
Topping: combine flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, rolled oats, True Lemon, and butter. Sprinkle evenly over filling mixture.
Step 9
Bake in 375 degree oven for 45-60 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly.
