These were my favorite donuts/doughnuts as a kid. I didn’t realize how easy they were to make but they are !

Step 1
You can do this by hand but If you have a stand mixer in the bowl of a stand mixer add warm milk and warm water ( not hot as this will kill the yeast ) now crumble in the fresh yeast or use dry active yeast 1 packet instead . Sprinkle sugar on top and stir and let it sit 10 minutes .

Step 2
Once the mixture is foamy add the flour sprinkle salt on top then the softened butter and mix this all until combined . Set the machine to medium and knead for 6 minutes then knead 2 minutes on high or until the dough comes away from the hook. You can do this by hand just knead until the dough is smooth and elastic then roll into a ball and cover with a tea towel and let to rise one hour in a warm place

Step 3
Pinch the dough down then divide the dough into 10 . Roll into balls then roll into a long sausage shape . Put the dough on individual pieces of cut parchment paper this will help getting them into the oil later without mis- shaping them . Cover with a towel 20 more minutes then heat oil on medium heat and fry the doughnuts until golden about 2 minutes a side .
Step 4
Drain the doughnuts on paper towels let them cook down completely then slice down the middle of each one . Whip cream with powder sugar until stiff then pipe down the center of the doughnuts . Now pipe a line of jam on top of that and dust with powder sugar and enjoy
