Instructions
Step 1
Set oven to 200c/390f fan (220c/430c)

Add dry ingredients to a bowl

Add softened butter and rub with fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs

Break eggs into a pint measuring jug and beat
Step 5
Top up beaten eggs with milk until combined mixture is 300ml

Slowly combine egg mix with dry ingredients a small bit at a time until you have a sticky dough
Step 7
Knead dough lightly on floured surface, add cheddar or fruit if desired
Step 8
Roll out dough until about 1/2 inch think and cut into scones

Brush with remaining egg mix to glaze the top surface
