Tip: if you have a dial on your crockpot, rather than buttons, you can plug your crockpot into a Christmas light timer and set it to turn on at a specific time. This is especially helpful if you won’t be home at the right time to turn it on and have it ready for dinner, or if you’re forgetful. Thanks to Krissy Quilter for her genius idea.

Instructions
Step 1
Place the roast in a large pan on the stove over medium-high heat. Sprinkle with desired amount of salt, pepper and garlic powder. Use a large 2-pronged fork or 2 large, sturdy spoons to maneuver and turn the roast until all sides are browned. The purpose is not to cook the meat here, just make it look delicious.
Step 2
Place the browned meat in the crock pot and pour the can of beef broth over it.
Step 3
Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
Step 4
Meat should be tender and fall apart easily, so plan to pull out with 2 big spoons.
