Sweet Italian Sausage w/ peppers and onion in marinara sauce
5 steps
Prep:5minCook:25min
I needed a quick easy dinner so I took every shortcut possible. In fact, i only used 3 ingredients, 5 if you count the half cup of water and cooking spray. I even did the rapid thawing method by placing the frozen sausage in a zip lock freezer bag and submerging it into hot tap water for 30minutes. If anyone has the time and decided to do this completely from scratch, making their own sauce, please drop your recipe in the notes!

Ingredients
0 servings
sweet italian sausage
i used 2 small packs of 5
Frozen sliced peppers and onions blend
1 jarmarinara sauce
or pasta, I used Prego Garden Super Chunky Musbroom and Green Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
1. (I removed casing from the sausage) Cook sausage according to directions (mine said brown both sides on medium high heat -use cooking spray- then reduce heat to medium low and carefully add 1/2 cup water, cover and summer for 12minutes or until fully cooked) Remove sausage from pan, sit aside and drain liquid I used a pan big/deep enough to fit my sauce
Step 2
2. While sausage is cooking prep peppers and onions- if using frozen veggies, thaw by running under hot water In a strainer and then use paper towel to absorb most of the excess water/moisture
Step 3
3. Add sauce and veggies. Bring to a simmer. I added dried basil, oregano a touch of garlic salt, but you do you. (Sautee if using fresh veggies. I didn't bc thawed veggies were soft enough and would warm with the sauce- and my 3yo was mid tantrum clinging to my legs hense all the cooking short cuts)
Step 4
4. Add sausage back into sauce. I let it simmer for 5-10 minutes on medium-low just to let everything come together.
Step 5
5. Serve however you want with whatever you want. I like it on a sub roll with provolone or mozzarella cheese. My 3 and 6yo like it sliced bc "circles are fun".
