Vegan Kruidnoten (pepernoten)

1 step
Prep:30minCook:20min
Delicious kruidnoten (spice nuts) which are typically/traditionally eaten by the Dutch around Sinterklaas time. These sweets were strewn around by Pete and collected and eaten by kids. Though adults will love them too. The warm spicy treat is comforting and they're hard to stop eating. Of course, you can make these 'non-vegan' and extra interesting with different added ingredients or toppings!

Instructions

Step 1
Mix all the ingredients together. You can do this with a mixer or by hand. When you can make a ball, you're done. Flatten the ball and wrap to place in the fridge for 30 minutes. (You can skip this step, but it will leave your kruidnoten less crispy and coarser.) Preheat the oven at C 180 degrees. (356F) Put a (reusable) baking sheet on your banking tray. Make long rolls of dough one by one and cut them into small, equal sized pieces. Roll little balls (about 1cm or half an inch) from this and place them on the baking sheet. Leave a finger size between them as they flatten and spread a little. Bake them in your oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Leave them to cool completely before storing any leftovers in an airtight container. Enjoy! ~if you're dipping them in chocolate, let them first cool completely. No one has ever been able to keep any of these around long enough to know how long they will keep. Probably pretty long. ;p
