Turkey Gravy

8 steps
Cook:15min
You are here from my Cajun Butter Thanksgiving Turkey recipe, aren’t you? Well, let’s make some gravy!!!! Tips for making the perfect Gravy Double or triple this recipe if necessary. Depending on the size of your turkey, you can use butter to replace your turkey drippings. 1 part fat= 1 part flour If your sauce is too thick, slowly whisk in more chicken stock If you need to thicken your sauce, Save your Turkey Drippings Turkey Drippings are all the delicious juices that come out of the turkey while it’s cooking. Because you’ll need to cook your turkey in a roasting vessel, all of the vegetables and. flavors from the turkey and spices create an AMAZING mouth-watering base for the Gravy! Your turkey drippings will be part liquid/, part solid. After your turkey finishes, pour all the liquid in your roasting dish into a bowl or pitcher. Within a few minutes, you’ll see the fat separate (this is the part that we will be using as the base of our gravy)

Instructions

Step 1
Carefully remove turkey drippings from roasting pan. Pour your drippings into a clear bowl or pitcher. After a few minutes, you'll see your turkey drippings separate. The solids will sink to the bottom and the fat content will remain clear.
Step 2
Remove 1/4 cup of the fat part of the turkey drippings and pour into a medium sauce pan
Step 3
slowly whisk in flour until you have a smooth consistency
Step 4
Slowly Pour in chicken or turkey stock, while whisking and allow the sauce to thicken. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
Step 5
salt, and pepper to taste.
Step 6
Because I used cajun for this recipe, the gravy had an orange hue, I used 1 tbsp of browning to make the gravy a more brown traditional color but this is OPTIONAL.
Step 7
Browning is found in the sauce aisles, its “burnt sugar” and commonly used to make sauces more of a brown color!
Step 8
Serve with sides and turkey!
