Step 1
1. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. 2.. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course cornmeal. 3. Combine orange juice and grated rind with beaten egg. 4. Pour all at once into dry ingredients, mixing just enough to dampen.
5. Spoon into a greased loaf pan. Spread corners and sides slightly higher than center.
6. Bake at 350 Degrees for about 1 hour or until crust is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. 7. Refrigerate for easier slicing.
