Homemade Dog Food
4 steps
Prep:5minCook:30min
I made this recipe for my dog that had issues with a poultry allergy. Really hard to find a dog food that doesn’t have poultry in some form. Since I have a pain condition, any recipe has to be really easy and this one is. I’ve tried about a half dozen homemade recipes and he LOVES this one. First time I’ve had to restrict his rating because he will eat it until his belly pops!

Instructions
Step 1
1. Rinse brown rice. Add 2 cups water to rice and instant pot pressure cook for 15 minutes. Natural release 5 minutes then take off lid, let cool and fluff.
Step 2
While rice is cooking add the remaining ingredients except knackwurst to a pan with 1/4 cup water, mix well and heat through. Mash squash or potatoes. Make sure it’s all mixed well.
Step 3
Slice knackworst into bite size and fry in some 2 T olive oil stirring and turning until browned.
Step 4
Mix everything together and I put 2 servings into each baggie and flatten to stack easy, I feed mine 2x a day so each bag is a day. I freeze all but 2 days worth. Then each night I remove a pack for the day after next, giving it time to thaw and still be fresh. Technically, you could leave a 3-4 day supply in fridge, but this habit works for me. Store packs in a gallon freezer bag.
