My mother made these for us at the holidays....the recipe was in a 1950 edition of her Betty Crocker cook book....

Instructions

Step 1
Pre heat oven to 425
Step 2
Whip shortening, eggs, sugar, vanilla and sour cream in mixer or with hand mixer.
Step 3
Blend all dry ingredients in separate bowl and slowly add to wet mixer
Step 4
Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes to an hour.
Step 5
Use 1 inch scoop or use to 2 spoons to place dough on to an parchment paper.
Step 6
Bake for 10 minutes, until edges just start to brown
Step 7
Cool completely on rack
