How to Brine a Turkey

To have a moist and flavorful Turkey you need to brine it at least overnight. Here’s a simple brine I use for my thanksgiving Turkey.

Step 1
In large pot bring water to a boil and add all the ingredients. Mix well and simmer for 30 minutes. Let cool for 30 minutes. In a 5 gallon bucket or tub pour in ice and brine. Brine should be cool to the touch before adding the Turkey. Brine overnight or 12 hours.
Step 2
Before cooking pat dry. I did a simple rub with 1 stick butter and 2 tbsp of miso. Cover with foil loosely when baking so the miso doesn’t burn. I set my temperature at 375F and baked for 3 hours. Cooking times varies with weight and covered vs uncovered.
