Aunt Hushie’s Harosses
4 steps
Prep:10min
My Aunt Hushie, Evelyn Scull, always cooked for our family. For Passover she makes delicious Harosses. She makes enough to feed an army, but you can easily cut this recipe in half or double it. ~Marilyn Sultar

Instructions
Step 1
Finely chop nuts in a food processor fitted with a steel blade.
Step 2
Empty the food processor, pouring chopped nuts in a large bowl.. Wash and peel apples. (MSS NOTE: I like Empire apples best for Harosses.)
Step 3
Hand grate the apples or use your grater blade.
Step 4
Add grated apples to bowl with chopped nuts. Mix together. Add cinnamon and a few drops of Sweet Concord Wine (MSS NOTE: Wine must be kosher for Passover! I use Manaschevitz brand.). Mix together. You don’t want to use too much wine, just enough to hold the ingredients together and give the mixture a little moisture. Mix together. Mixture will look ugly as it symbolizes the mortar for the bricks used to build the pyramids of Egypt. Enjoy. This is delicious on matzah or veggies such as cucumbers or on ice cream!
