Instructions
Preparing
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray 2 donut pans with cooking spray.
Step 2
First add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt to a bowl. Whisk until combined.
Step 3
Next, melt your butter and allow it to cool.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk coffee, butter, eggs, yogurt, and milk until smooth. Pour mixture into your dry mixture and fold until just combined.
Step 5
Pour donut batter into a prepared piping bag or use a gallon sized ziplock bag. One trick I swear by is to place the ziplock bag over a tall drinking glass and fold over the opening along the sides of the cup. This makes it easier to pour the batter into the bag while it is upright. Seal the bag and cut a small slit off of one of the corners.
Baking & Some Whisking
Step 6
Pipe your batter into your prepared donut pans until ¾ full. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cake bounces back when you press on them.
Step 7
While your donuts are baking prepare the peppermint glaze!
Step 8
Whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, peppermint extract, vanilla, and milk until completely smooth. Add more milk if the glaze is too thick.
Cooling
Step 9
Allow donuts to cool for 10 minutes before glazing. Dip each donut one by one into your glaze and then sprinkle your crushed peppermint/candy cane pieces on top. Enjoy immediately!
