Step 1
Cut steak into thin, narrow strips - 6cm x 1cm
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbs butter in a frying pan until hot. Add % of the meat, cook quickly until golden brown, remove meat from pan immediately. Repeat with remaining meat, a quarter at a time. Remove all from pan. Add remaining butter cook onions, mushrooms and garlic until onion is golden brown and tender.
Step 3
Return meat to pan with water, crumbled stock cube and tomato paste, cook for 10 minutes. Stir until combined. Bring to boil, reduce heat. Simmer covered for 3-5 minutes.
Step 4
Blend corn flour in a bowl with 1Tab cold water. Gradually add to meat mixture, stirring until mixture boils and thickens. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 2 minutes. Stir in sour cream just before serving.
