Instructions

Step 1
Whisk to combine your brown butter, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs and salt. Make sure the mixture is warm so that the yeast activates.
Step 2
Add in your flour and instant yeast. If kneading by hand, mix the dough with a wooden spoon until it comes together, and then oil your hands before kneading for about 12 minutes or until the dough is tacky to touch. If using a stand mixer with a hook attachment, knead for about 6 minutes. Cover and allow the dough to rest in a warm place for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
Step 3
Remove your risen dough from the bowl and divide into 16 balls. Place the balls on a buttered pan and press down to flatten. Cover and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
Step 4
In the meantime, preheat your oven to 375f and make your crumble topping. Combine the sugar and flour, and then use your hands to press in the softened butter until a crumble texture is created. You may need to add more flour (if too soft) or butter (if too hard) to create the desired texture.
Step 5
Brush the dough with egg wash and generously spread the crumble topping on top. Bake in the middle rack for 18-20 minutes, or until it’s nicely browned on top. Start checking your bread at the 15 minute mark to make sure it’s browning on top without burning.
Step 6
Let the bread completely cool down, and I like to serve it with tea or coffee. Enjoy!
