Instructions
Step 1
Grease a casserole dish and set aside.
Step 2
Add chopped dates, brown sugar, and water to sauce pan and cook over medium-high heat until soft and tender. Stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, butter/margarine, and baking soda in a medium bowl until crumbly.
Step 4
Add ½ of crumb mix to bottom of pan, pressing down firmly into a crust with fingers or a fork.
Step 5
Pour the filling mix over the crust, spreading evenly.
Step 6
Add remaining crumbs on top of filling, pressing lightly until it feels solid.
Step 7
Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes (or until golden brown).
Step 8
Let cool, then cut into squares. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for best keeping.
