Instructions
Step 1
Start by pouring the baking yeast, sugar, and warm water into a container.
Step 2
Mix it all together and leave it aside for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
Step 3
After the 10 minutes have passed, your yeast should form a little foam like the one in the picture. That's a sign that it's activated :)
Step 4
On the other hand, pour the flour and vanilla sugar into a large container if you’re kneading the dough by hand, or into the bowl of your food processor if you’re using a food processor. Make a well and pour in the egg, oil, warm milk, and your yeast/water mixture.
Step 5
Knead your dough for about 10 minutes. You can adjust the amount of flour/water if needed.
Step 6
Cover your dough with cling film and a clean towel, and let it rest for about 2 hours.
Step 7
After the resting time, your dough should have doubled or even tripled in volume!
Step 8
It should be soft and easy to handle.
Step 9
Place some flour on your work surface or on baking paper, and gently roll out your dough.
Step 10
Using a cookie cutter (or even a glass if you don't have one), shape circles into the size of your choice.
Step 11
Arrange them on individual squares of baking paper. This will make it easier to bake later!
Step 12
Reserve some of your dough to form small balls. You can then add them to your circles to create little ears for your bears.
Step 13
Cover your donuts, and let them rest for about 1 hour.
Step 14
After 1 hour, the bears should be a little more puffy. This is a good sign (:
Step 15
Heat your frying oil for a few minutes, and once it's nice and hot you can proceed to cook. You only have to dip your paper square slightly into the oil so that the donut slides out on its own without burning your hands.
Step 16
Once cooked, you can fill your donuts by making a small indentation on the top.
Step 17
You can then add some chocolate, jam or anything else!
Step 18
For the decoration, I made a simple icing: mix 250g of powdered sugar, an egg white, and the juice of half a lemon.
Step 19
You just have to dip one side of your doughnuts in it, and drain slightly.
Step 20
You can leave them in the fridge for 5 minutes before drawing the eyes and nose with a chocolate food pen!
Step 21
And here you go!
Step 22
So yummy!
