Step 1
1. Process tomatoes and their juice in food processor until smooth, about 10 seconds. Heat oil in 12-inch skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add onion and cook until softened and lightly browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Step 2
2. Add sausage and cook, breaking up meat with wooden spoon, for 1 minute. Stir in processed tomatoes and 1/8 teaspoon pepper, bring to simmer, and cook until sauce is slightly thickened, 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 3
3. Stir in water and pasta, bring to vigorous simmer. and cook stirring often, until pasta is tender and sauce is thickened, 6 to 9 minutes: if sauce becomes too thick, add extra water as needed, Off heat stir in basil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with Parmesan
