Instructions
Step 1
Wash and dry pork belly. Remove the bones if there are any, and cut the pork belly into bite-size/1 inch cubes.
Step 2
Mix sugar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl until sugar completely dissolves.
Step 3
Heat 1/2 tbsp of any cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat on stove. Add cinnamon, star anise, and Szechuan peppercorn then stir until fragrant.
Step 4
Add pork belly to skillet and spread out the meat so it sears evenly.
Step 5
Add garlic and shallots to skillet and stir with the pork belly.
Step 6
Add shaoxing wine to skillet (optional).
Step 7
Add the mixed sauce, stir together, bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer for 10 minutes. (Add a little bit of water if it seems too thick)
Step 8
Remove the cinnamon and star anise and it is done!
Step 9
Serve with hot, steamed rice, boiled egg, and bok choy for optimal pleasure and enjoy!
