Oven-Baked Potatoes
5 steps
Prep:5minCook:1h
Using smaller russet potatoes that are cut in half after cooking makes for great dipping in chili, sour cream or melted cheese. If the baked potato is the meal, I would suggest three of these smaller russets per person. If this is a side, reduce that to one to two potatoes per person.

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Scrub the potatoes and pat dry.
Step 2
Put half the potatoes, half the oil and half the coarse sea salt in a gallon freezer or storage bag, close the bag and turn to mix.
Step 3
Place each potato directly onto the oven grate. Place a 9x13 aluminum pan below them to catch dripping oil.
Step 4
Repeat step 2 with the other half of the potatoes, salt and oil, then repeat step 3.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven, cut in half and serve with cheese and sour cream.
