½ tspbaking soda

¼ tspsalt

¼ cupcocoa powder
try and use dutch cocoa powder

2 tspinstant coffee granules
optional, but coffee really enhances the chocolate flavor

4 Tbspmaple syrup

2 Tbspwater

¾ cupsugar

2 tsppure vanilla extract

1 Tbspflaxmeal
whisked with 3 tbsp water to make one flax egg

½ cupwalnuts
lightly toasted and coarsely chopped
