Instructions

Step 1
In a small bowl mix together the white pepper, seven spices (or all spice), paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
Step 2
Place the roast on a large tray then drizzle 3 tablespoons of olive oil all over the roast beef and rub.
Step 3
Use half of the spice mixture and rub using your hand (I wore a glove), the whole roast including the creases.
Step 4
In a large skillet, heat oil on medium-high heat. Now, add in the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Flash-sear the roast to brown for about 2 minutes on each side.
Step 5
Add the remaining half of the spices to the bottom of the slow cooker then place the roast into the slow cooker. You can add the spices before you add the roast or after, both ways are find so it is your choice.
Step 6
Place the bouillon cubes around the roast. This step is optional.
Step 7
In the same skillet and using the leftover drippings, add in the cloves, anise star, cinnamon sticks, cubed onions, and the cut carrots on high heat. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes until onions are slightly browned and spices are fragrant.
Step 8
Place the sautéed onions and spices over the roast. Add in the raw cubed potatoes and cubed tomato then cover and slow cook for 6 hours on high heat.
