Krab Arancini (inspired by krab rangoons)

These delicious fried rice balls (arancini) were inspired by krab rangoons! Filled with cheese and fried to perfection, these are the perfect appetizers!

Instructions

Krab Mixture

Step 1
In a bowl, combine the krab, cream cheese, mayo, sriracha, garlic powder, sesame oil, and green onions.

Mix until well combined.
Step 3
Add white rice, cornstarch and furikake.

Mix until well combined.

Refrigerate the mixture for 1 hour.
Step 6
Scoop the rice onto your hands and place a small piece of cheese in the center of the rice. Shape the rice into a ball.

Refrigerate the rice balls for 1 hour.

Breading Process

In a separate bowl, combine together all purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

In another bowl, add panko bread crumbs.

In a separate bowl, crack two eggs and beat them until the yolk is broken up and combined with the egg whites.

Take the rice balls out of the fridge and dredge them in the seasoned flour, dip them in the egg wash and then the panko breadcrumbs. Make sure they’re well coated before frying. Repeat this step for all of the rice balls.

Frying Process

In a frying pan, heat your frying oil over medium low heat. You can use the chopstick trick to see when the oil is ready. Stick a wooden chopstick into the oil and when a flow of bubbles appears immediately, the oil is ready.

Fry your rice balls until they’re golden brown.

Spicy Mayo

Step 14
In a separate bowl, make the spicy mayo sauce by combing Japanese mayo, sugar, sriracha and lime juice.

The finished product

Enjoy the arancini with the spicy Mayo immediately! They’re good when they’re hot and fresh.
