Step 1
Mix shortening, brown sugar and egg well. Mix in molasses. Add rest of ingredients Chill for a minimum of 1 hour. Keeps for about a week.

molasses¼ cup
flour2 ¼ cups
baking soda2 teaspoons
salt¼ tsp
ground cloves½ tsp
ground cinnamon1 tsp
ground ginger1 tsp
Step 2
Preheat oven to 375ºF.
Step 3
Roll dough into balls about 1 inch (on the smaller end of “1 inch”). Roll in sugar. Put on ungreased cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and dot with water (DON’T FORGET!). Bake for 6-8 minutes
