Okonomiyaki Recipe
I used to call crisps, chips. Now I call fries, chips. Friend is now, mate. Tuesday is now, Chewsday 😰.
p.s: you can make your own okonomiyaki sauce by mixing together some oyster sauce, white sugar, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Taste and adjust to your liking :).
Okonomiyaki Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cabbage, thinly shredded
- 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
- Large handful crisps, crushed
- 1 small potato, finely grated
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup cold water
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg (optional)
- Toppings: mayo, okonomiyaki sauce and anything else you want.
Method
In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients together and mix to make a thick batter. You want a little bit of batter in the bottom of the bowl, so add more water if it needs it. Place a non-stick frying pan on medium heat. Add a splash of cooking oil and swirl around. Add half the batter and spread into a thin pancake. Cook for 4-6 mins, until deep golden brown, pressing and flattening the pancake with a spatula. Flip and cook for 4-6 mins, until golden brown. Top with mayo, okonomiyaki sauce and whatever your heart desires.
