Instructions
Step 1
Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
In a skillet, heat the olive oil from the can of sardines over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Step 3
Add diced tomatoes and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Add sardines to the skillet and break them into chunks with a fork. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Step 5
Toss cooked spaghetti with the sardine and tomato sauce.
Step 6
Garnish with chopped fresh basil leaves and serve.
